Who’s interested in your announcement?

This is Guy making a stupid announcement about having new glasses (not the ones in the picture above, that would have been too logical).

There’s no reason, other than generally wishing him well and hoping he has decent eyesight, that you should be even slightly interested in this. So why do so many companies insist on sending journalists an announcement every time they do so much as sneeze?
